Can I transfer my current phone number to a Straight Talk phone?
Yes, you may transfer your telephone number from another company to Straight Talk. To port in your existing telephone number to your Straight Talk phone, the number you are porting must be active with your current service provider.
You need to request Straight Talk to port in your number, Straight Talk will process your request in your behalf. In order to request the transfer and initiate the activation process please go to www.straighttalk.com/Activate,and select the radio button option "Activate my phone with a number transferred from another company."
The transferring of your number to a new Straight Talk might take a few hours; however, if there are any delays from your current wireless carrier, the transfer process could take up to 7 days and in the case of landline numbers, transfers may take up to 30 days.
Your new Straight Talk will be ready to complete activation when your old phone stops working.
How can I download ringtones and graphics to my Straight Talk phone?
To download ringtones and graphics to your Straight Talk phone, first you need to buy the ringtones and/or graphics of your preference online. How can I refill my Straight Talk Account?
Straight Talk offers two flexible Account Refill Options:
Auto-Refill (Most Convenient)
Just register your credit or debit card and every 30 days your Straight Talk Account will be refilled with $45 (unlimited talk, text and/or multimedia messages, and Mobile Web Access) or $30 (1000 minutes, 1000 text and/or multimedia messages plus 30MB of data). 30MB of data delivers about 300 web pages. You can cancel at any time without penalty or switch plans when you choose.
Refill on DemandYou can refill your Account as often as you need by purchasing more Straight Talk services with a credit or debit card at StraightTalk.com or by calling 1-877-430-Cell (2355). You can also refill with a Straight Talk Service Card available at participating Wal-Mart locations or Walmart.com.
What happens when I refill my Straight Talk Account?
Every refill resets your account balance to the amount you have purchased. When you refill your account with $45, you will receive unlimited talk, text, and/or multimedia messages and Mobile Web Access during a 30 day service period on enable phones. When you refill your account with $30, you will receive 1000 minutes, 1000 messages, plus 30MB of data during a 30 day service period on enable phones. There is no carryover of unused service.
What happens when I run out of minutes, texts, or data before my 30 days?
Simply refill your Account with a credit or debit card at StraightTalk.com, by calling 1-877-430-Cell (2355), or by purchasing a Straight Talk Service Card at participating Wal-Mart locations.
Will I be able to make or receive calls while in Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands?
You will not be able to make or receive calls on your Straight Talk phone when you are located anywhere outside of the continental United States.
How do I go about transferring my telephone number/line from another company?
You may transfer or port your telephone number online from another company to Straight Talk. To start the port process, please go to
www.straighttalk.com/Activate
and select the option "Activate my phone with a number transferred from another company" and click on "Continue". Proceed until you get to the "Transaction Summary".
The Transaction Summary page will reflect the payment information, the phone number your are transferring, as well as the serial number of the Straight Talk phone you will be using. The porting of our phone number to Straight Talk might take a few hours; however, if there are any delays from your current wireless carrier, the transfer process could take up to 7 days and in the case of landline numbers, transfers may take up to 30 days.Your Straight Talk phone will be ready to Activate when you old phone stops working.
What are the Portabiltiy Requirements?
To port in your existing telephone number to your Straight Talk phone and obtain wireless service provided by Straight Talk, you (the Subscriber) must agree to the following:
The number you are porting must be active with your current sercvice provider.
The port-in process could take up to seven days.
If your Straight Talk service does not remain active, you will lose your telephone number.
Until the porting process is complete, should you need to call 911 for emergency assistance, you must give the 911 operator your location as the 911 operator will not be able to reach you until the port process is complete.
If you switch your home telephone number to Straight Talk, your home telephone service will be disconnected.
If I port my landline telephone number to Straight Talk, will my Straight Talk Phone be an extension of my landline service?
If you transfer your landline telephone number to Straight Talk, your landline phone service will be disconnected and you will no longer receive calls on your landline phone.
What information will I need to give Straight Talk in order to port my number?
You will need to provide the following information:
The phone number to be transferred
The account number or service PIN from your current phone service provider
The last 4 digits of your SSN
Create a Straight Talk Account
Accept the Terms and Conditions of Service
A Service card or plan at the time of Activation.
What is Local Number Portabilty (LNP)?
With LNP, you will be able to keep the same phone number when switching between wireless carriers or between wireless and landline carriers. You will only be able to transfer your phone number to another carrier within your local market. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued rules mandating that carriers are required to implement LNP starting November 24, 2003, in the top 100 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA).
