Keep your Own Tablet | Straight Talk Wireless

In order for your tablet to be activated with our SIM card, it must be an AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon compatible tablet, OR an unlocked GSM tablet operating in the 850 and 1900 MHz bands. (Tablets purchased and activated overseas may not operate on these bands.) To activate your service, you will need to purchase a Straight Talk SIM card and Data Service Plan. In order for your tablet’s Internet and data services to work, you must update your APN (Access Point Name) settings, also called Data settings. We provide instructions for this; however, please note that some services may not work with every device even after settings have been updated. Please remember that SIM card and Service Plan purchases are not refundable.

Unlocked refers to a GSM tablet that is capable of connecting to a cellular network, but is not configured or programmed to a specific provider’s network. With an unlocked tablet you can change your service provider by changing the SIM card. To work with our program, an unlocked tablet must operate in the 850 and 1900 MHz bands. (Tablets purchased and activated overseas may not operate on these bands.) 
Please note that many tablets on the market are Wi-Fi only devices, and cannot connect to any cellular service network.

Retailers such as Walmart and Best Buy sell unlocked tablets as well as carrier-locked tablets. Consult the retailer for availability. Please note that some retailers only sell unlocked tablets through their online store.
